Post weld heat treatment (PWHT) testing involves verifying the effectiveness and quality of the heat treatment process applied to welded components. PWHT is a controlled process where the welded assembly or structure is heated to a specific temperature and held for a certain period, followed by gradual cooling under controlled conditions. This process helps relieve residual stresses, improve material properties, and reduce the risk of brittle fracture in weldments.
